On the occasion of the International Day of Consciousness, the Palais des Nations in Geneva will host some 600 participants on April 2, 2026, for an exceptional event that will allow them to meet leading figures of peace and humanity from some of the world's most ravaged regions, committed thinkers, institutional representatives, field workers and activists, artists, and young people from around the globe. The event will take place in the Tempus Room at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, and online, to celebrate this Day of Call for Civil Society to Mobilize for Peace.

In a world beset by conflict, division, and escalating violence, the International Day of Awareness, unanimously adopted in 2019 by the United Nations General Assembly, issues a clear and urgent call: to create spaces for encounter, dialogue, and raising awareness in order to build peace and contribute together to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals. May it be a compass for all our commitments.

The event is co-organized by Pascale Fressoz, founding president of the NGO International Alliance for Development Goals (Al-ODD, with consultative status at the United Nations ECOSOC), and Sofia Stril-Rever, initiator of the 2023 International Day of Conscience celebration and founder of the LoveForce philanthropic fund, sponsor of the event. We have received support from a broad network of partner foundations and NGOs, the UN Office at Geneva, local authorities in the Savoie region, and educational, higher education, and research institutions based in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and Geneva.

In a world marked by conflict, division and rising violence, the International Day of Awareness, unanimously adopted in 2019 by the United Nations member states, launches a clear and urgent appeal: to create spaces for encounter, dialogue, and awareness to build peace and contribute together to the 2030 Agenda.

Because peace cannot be decreed through speeches, the 2026 International Day of Consciousness is intended to be a sensory, collective, and embodied experience. A vibrant encounter of hearts and consciences, where those who have known war bear witness to the strength of our shared humanity, an authentic and powerful bulwark against the ideologies and deadly forces currently sweeping the world.

Mothers' Appeal for Peace

From Trauma to Courage ( English)

Dr. Raouf Salti, president of Children's Right to Healthcare (a Geneva-based foundation accredited by ECOSOC), representatives of Geneva's Jewish community, and Ali Malhoodji, founder of One Love, will present the Mothers' Appeal, a collective cry rejecting the inevitability of violence. In a video message, Palestinian Reem Al Hajajreh and Israeli Yael Admi, the initiators of this appeal, will remind everyone that their children were born neither to kill nor to be killed.

Women, artisans of peace

Afghan women lawyers, jurists and political leaders engaged in an international tour will speak out to advocate for the implementation of resolution 1325 on the role of women in peacebuilding.

Children's Song for Peace (English)

A moment of intense emotion will mark the day when, in the heart of the Palais des Nations dedicated to the human family, the voices of children from Gaza will resonate, singing for peace, accompanied by their music teacher Ahmed Muin and the Geneva-based sound artist Julie Semoroz. The children's choral voices will be a sublime expression of a path of joy, pacification, and hope.

From survival to solidarity

Conscience and human dignity (English)

Former child soldiers who became internationally recognized peace leaders, Emmanuel Jal and Abdul Aziz Muhammat, will share their journey of inner transformation and overcoming hatred.

🌍 An Urgent Context

Humanity is facing growing intolerance, the erosion of rights, and widespread violence. The 2030 Agenda would never have been adopted in this geopolitical context. We have it: make the most of it.

🎨 Art for Awareness

Art raises awareness. Children sing for Gaza. The artist Anima is creating a collaborative painting. You will contribute your stone (its crystals) to a collective artwork for peace.

🤝 Converge to Act

It's time to stand together, to strengthen our ranks to stay the course. Not just among those already convinced, but among communities worldwide. To save the UN, sustainability, rights, and peace:

It's essential!

The International Day of Consciousness calls for moving beyond a geopolitics of peace based on fear and deterrence, to build a peace based on consciousness, founded on love understood as a collective force for connection, social justice and human evolution.

Because this day cannot be limited to a one-off event, the fundamentals of the International Day of Awareness, taken up in the LoveForce Manifesto for Peace, were transmitted throughout the 2025–2026 school year during weekly workshops led by Professor Jan Dijkstra and Sofia Stril-Rever with students of the International School of Geneva.

A specific program "Leadership, Peace and Humanism", led by Pascale Fressoz and Vanessa Mendez, enabled more than 120 students in Savoie, Haute-Savoie and Isère (Sciences Po Grenoble, Polytech Annecy-Chambéry, Lycée de l'Albanais, Lycée porte de chartreuse, Collège des Bauges, Groupe International) to participate in 24 workshops to discuss peace on April 2nd.

The Love Force Manifesto for Peace was also shared with the youth branch of Amnesty International, the International Humanitarian Law NGO of the University of Geneva, as well as with the Neuro Center of UNIGE, under the direction of Professor Didier Grandjean.

In total, nearly 250 young people from universities and schools in Geneva and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France will present concrete, creative, and bold proposals on April 2nd. Remember in 2025, all those ovations... following the cries of indignation and ambitious action plans proposed by young people on peace, on the environment—in all its dimensions—and on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). What a powerful experience! We will ensure that the proposals from this 2026 event are compiled into a white paper and then shared with decision-makers in our countries. This day will therefore be a special moment for intergenerational connection, marked by conviviality and fraternity.

Because art and culture are powerful tools for raising awareness, we will be hosting artists, including Anima, who will invite the public to co-create her work, The Star of Magdala, by consciously and lovingly adding salt crystals. Students from the International School of Geneva will exhibit drawings for peace alongside the mural Sharing Peace, created by schoolchildren from Gaza, adding to the peace declarations of young students and professionals, many of whom have chosen altruism and impactful careers.

"Let us rise up as the voice of Conscience for the victims of injustice, where humanity betrays its own conscience. Let us be the voice of Love for peoples broken by hatred, where humanity turns away from its heart. Let us be the voice of Peace for the oppressed whom war silences, where humanity denies what makes it human."

Together with the youth of the world, let us open new paths of awareness, courage and love, to build more just and happier societies.

Together, let's reinvent peace. Together, let's transform planet Earth into planet Love.
